Weekly Workouts

1

The current Capital Area Runners weekly workout schedule is as follows:

Tuesdays 6:30 AM at the W.L.H.S. Track - Interval Workouts (evening workouts will return when demand does)
The meeting times listed above are the approximate times that runners should be arriving to do their pre-workout warmup. We aim to get at least 15 minutes of light running and warmup drills prior to the start of the formal training session. Workout details can be found in the Capital Area Runners weekly e-newsletter, or by contacting George Buckheit at george@capitalarearunners.com.

Note: during certain times of the year (normally January and July) we shift the Tuesday sessions to a location near the Iwo Jima Memorial to run some hill repeats.

Fridays 6:30 AM at the W.L.H.S. Track - Tempo Workouts (evening workouts will return when demand does)
As with the interval workouts, the meeting times listed above are the approximate times that runners should be arriving to do their pre-workout warmup. Workout details can be in the Capital Area Runners weekly e-newsletter, or by contacting George Buckheit at george@capitalarearunners.com.

Sunday Long Runs (Saturday Long runs will return when demand does)
These sessions are open to CAR members and their friends, family, and co-workers, as well as anyone else who is looking for some weekend running partners. All are welcome. The start times for these runs are seasonally adjusted with 7:00 AM being the summer meeting time (May thru October) and 8:00 AM being the winter meeting time (November thru April). Locations for these runs vary, but we most frequently meet at Fletcher's Boathouse on the C&O Canal Towpath. Runners could be covering anywhere from 6 to 21 miles, depending on the event for which they are preparing. During marathon prep periods when we have large groups of runners going 20+ miles, the runs will be supported with aid stations containing water and nutritional supplements. Weekend run details can be found on in the Capital Area Runners weekly e-newsletter, or by contacting George Buckheit at george@capitalarearunners.com.

Interested in running with Capital Area Runners?
Contact George Buckheit at george@capitalarearunners.com or just show up at one of the workouts ready to run (you may want to confirm the location prior to coming out). Membership fees are required for the Tuesday and Friday sessions, but any prospective new members are welcome to a free week of workouts to meet the team, check out how we do things, and see if they think CAR is a fit for them.
