Weekly Workouts

The current Capital Area Runners weekly workout schedule is as follows:

Tuesdays 6:30 AM at the Washington Liberty High School Track Interval Workouts
The first rep starts promptly at 6:30 AM. Runners are encouraged to arrive earlier and get at least 15 minutes of light running and warmup drills prior to the start of the formal training session. Workout details can be found in the Capital Area Runners Weekly e-newsletter, or by contacting George Buckheit (george@capitalarearunners.com).

Fridays 6:30 AM at the W.L.H.S. Track – Tempo Workouts
The tempo runs are generally 5k to 8k in distance and start promptly at 6:30 AM. Runners are encouraged to arrive earlier and get at least 15 minutes of light running and warmup drills prior to the start of the formal training session.

Sunday Long Runs
These sessions are open to both CAR members and non-members. The start times for these runs are seasonally adjusted with 7:00 AM being the summer meeting time (May thru October) and 8:00 AM being the winter meeting time (November thru April). Locations for these runs vary, but we most frequently meet at Fletcher’s Boathouse or Carderock Recreation Area on the C&O Canal Towpath. Runners could be covering anywhere from 6 to 21 miles, depending on the event for which they are preparing. During warmer weather, the runs will be supported with aid stations containing water and nutritional supplements. Weekend run details can be found in the Capital Area Runners weekly e-newsletter, or by contacting George Buckheit.

Contact George Buckheit (george@capitalarearunners.com) or just show up at one of the workouts ready to run (you may wish to confirm the location prior to coming out). Membership fees are required for the Tuesday and Friday sessions, but any prospective new members are welcome to a free week of workouts to meet the team, check out how we do things and see if they think CAR is a fit for them.
